Hey.
Been a moment.
This is why I have so many mostly-empty journals.
How are you?
Some updates:
-I own a car! It’s fine. I see a dozen of the exact same model every time I go out.
Nice to be able to get around without taking hours to do so, although I will still use public transportation.

-This means I have a bank account. Doesn’t sound like a big deal but holy cow was that difficult. Sweden uses cards for most transactions, but for certain person-to-person payments, they use an app called Swish. You also need a bank account to buy a house. Go figure.
-I am, once again, a Swedish citizen. My dad was born and raised here, and when I was 18 or so, I was able to receive citizenship through him. Turns out it can expire if not renewed.
Guess what we forgot to do when I turned 22.
After a few months here, everything has been figured out. Kinda proud of doing it all myself.

-Dormouse is not a citizen. Or really, any closer to becoming one. The local migration and tax offices have been giving us conflicting information, new and stricter immigration rules have been implemented, and there seems to be confusion all around. One thing we were told explicitly was they need to apply from outside of the country, so they’ve moved back with family in the States for the time being.
It could be for a month. It could be for six. We don’t know.
It sucks.
We’ve been trying to get in contact with any sort of legal representation, which has been its own struggle.
As soon as we get that figured out, we can really kick off house-hunting. We’ve seen a couple, and it was tough for us to find one that would be perfect but we’d have to pass on because of Dormouse’s status.
We’ll see what’s next.
In the meantime, I’m still in the cabin with our pets. Our…everything we own is sitting in a storage unit, somewhere in Holland, I believe. I would love to wear more than the seven sets of clothes I own, but I can make due.
I’m still going to try and take tons of photos.
