Notes from the Sub-Basement of Mars

First meetings are always awkward.
You might know me.
You might not.
I’m not going to write a whole introduction to myself, but I will give an explanation for this website.

In around eight months, my partner and I will be packing up and moving to another country. While both of us have traveled extensively, we’ve never experienced a life-change quite this big.
Dormouse, my partner of eleven years, lived in Japan for an extended period of time, and I did the same in Sweden, the destination of our move. However, both of us were at the point in our lives where we could pack a single suitcase with most of our possessions. This time, we’ll be moving with a dog, three cats, and four years of life accumulated at our current residence.
The purpose of this website is to document the time up to the move, our vacation to Sweden this summer, and eventually the move itself.

I don’t mean for this to be an essay of a post. Sorry.

I also want a place to share my photography. Eons ago I was a photography major, but dropped out because I have ADHD and found a shiny new hobby to get into and eventually dump. I like taking photos for a few reasons, but I think the reason that’s most important for me is because I have a bad memory. I always have, and as I get older it has only gotten worse. I have a bad habit of repeating stories and jokes to poor souls who have to hear the for a second or third time.
So photography. I like having tangible proof of a memory. It’s important to me.

I’ve tried journaling, but that only lasts a week or so before I get bored and it feels like homework. Hopefully spending money on a website will motivate me. We’ll see.
