I had plans for this site. I was planning on doing daily updates of our trip from the perspective and experiences of both somebody enjoying a vacation in a different country and as a couple looking to buy their first home in a different country. The plan was to post updates on a near-daily basis.
Oh well.
We’ve been in Sweden for three weeks. It’s been great. It’s been stressful. I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learned I know less than I thought.
We’ve visited places I haven’t seen since my childhood. The weather has been pleasant. There are hundreds of places to take a little day trip and enjoy a little hike. I was able to order pizza on the phone in Swedish. I found a little board game meetup groupe that I like. I feel comfortable and safe here, and that’s all I need right now.
It’s also been stressful. House-hunting is easy. I’ve made a ton of appointments for us to see houses, and we’ve seen quite a few, and some have been quite promising. They’re in our price range, they’re well-maintained, and there’s plenty of space.
However, the issues are:
-You need a Swedish bank account to buy a house
-You need to be a Swedish citizen to have a Swedish bank account
-My citizenship is on hold because it wasn’t renewed after my passport was expired
There’s been a lot of waiting. We’ve had to wait to get my passport renewed. We’re waiting to hear from immigration to see when I can go in to reactivate my citizenship. We’re waiting to see if I can somehow get a bank account so we can being the purchasing process.
Lots of waiting.
We’re still looking at houses. We have two schedule for today, and more later this week. We’re having a big party with my entire family tomorrow. We’re travelling to Copenhagen from the 29th to the 30th. More house hunting when we’re back.
Hopefully I’ll be better about updates, but that might be wishful thinking.
Anyways.
Here are some photos I’ve taken in my time here.
